Spring Vintage Weddings

It is (almost) one of our most favorite times of the year, spring! You know we love weddings here at Spring Lake and the spring-time weddings we get to see are fabulous. They are full of soft pastel colors, light-colored suits, vintage accents, and plenty of buckets overflowing with baby’s breath.

Weddings in Spring without Rain

Spring can be a difficult season to plan for an outdoor wedding. You’ve heard the phrase “April showers bring May flowers.” While we love the rain for the blooming landscape, rainy days bring their own set of challenges. Thankfully, we’ve already thought of that for you. You can plan your springtime wedding stress-free knowing that we already have an awesome location for rainy wedding days, and some might argue that it’s even better than our lakeside ceremony location. (Just in case you’re wondering, our rainy day wedding backup location is in our reception barn, overlooking the lake.)

Spring Wedding Colors

In addition to the gorgeous landscape that comes alive in spring, we also get the chance to witness gorgeous soft wedding colors. Soft pastel colors are easy to find in wedding decor items and bridesmaid dresses all months of the year, but they pair especially well with an early April wedding.

Lace is a Popular Spring Wedding Fabric

We also see lots of lace in the spring. There is just something about the vintage aesthetic of lace that we appreciate in the spring. We see lace used in all kinds of wedding DIY projects, from tablescape decor, to chair ties, to guestbooks, and even invitations and favors. Maybe it’s the dainty texture that pairs so well with tiny springtime flowers, or it could be the additional coverage our brides have in their wedding dresses on a cool, breezy spring afternoon, we’re not sure. But we do know that spring is prime time for lace in vintage weddings.

Spring Wedding Flowers

With the popularity of peonies and English Tea Roses on Pinterest, we see a number of brides planning spring weddings around bloom seasons for specific flowers. We personally love this idea because it makes cascading floral arrangements possible and affordable to boot! You’ve likely seen photos of our custom cedar arch dripping with gorgeous flowers, or seen the aisle lined with overflowing buckets of flowers. These wedding floral decor arrangements can fit all kinds of wedding themes. From vintage weddings, to garden brunch weddings, to formal equestrian affairs, and even casual country weddings, elaborate floral arrangements are perfect for weddings in the spring.

Spring seems to be the season that can accommodate a variety of wedding decor themes, and still remain well-suited for the season. Maybe it is because most wedding themes are easily softened with pastel colors, lace, and abundant flowers. Or maybe spring is just the perfect time for a wedding. The air is brisk and clear, plants are budding new growth, animals are dancing out of hibernation, and everything seems fresh and new. What better time of year to begin a new season of your own life?
