There’s no right order when it comes to making wedding decisions. Some people pick a venue first and then choose their dress, while some prefer to do it the other way around. This blog is for the brides that have a venue in mind and are still shopping for the perfect dress.

Your Wedding Dress

Picking a wedding dress can be exciting, magical, and meaningful. It can also be stressful. There are so many considerations that you need to keep in mind when it comes to picking out the perfect dress for your big day. It can be complicated to pick a dress that will go well in the venue you’ve selected. However, it’s not impossible!

If you already have a venue picked out, then that space could potentially play a big role in your final dress decision. Keep reading to find out some of the things you may want to keep in mind when picking out your attire and making sure that it matches your venue.

Indoor or Outdoor

This may seem like an obvious factor to think about, but whether or not your wedding is going to be outdoors could be important when picking out your dress. If your venue emphasizes nature and is more rustic, then you may want to choose a dress that’s slightly more durable and will be able to withhold some stress.

If your wedding is going to be outdoors, then you should plan for variable weather. Depending on your location and the time of the year, weather can be a big factor. Speaking with the venue staff about different weather options is a great way to get peace of mind and assurance that storm clouds won’t ruin your big day.

Color Palette

If you’re going with a traditional white dress, thinking about the colors of your venue might not be your top priority. However, if you’re a nontraditional bride who’s choosing a different color, then you may wnat to think about your surroundings. Making sure that you won’t clash with your setting is a good way to ensure that everything looks cohesive.

Wedding Day Plans

Are you going to dance the night away? Is your wedding and reception going to be more relaxed? Answering these questions is a great way to make sure that your dress, venue, and schedule all fit together well.

A strapless dress may not be the right option if you’re going to be walking and dancing around your venue. If you’re wanting to go with a strapless choice that doesn’t feel as secure as possible, consider getting alterations done to make sure that you feel comfortable.

Photos

If you’re going to be taking photos at your venue, then consider the different settings you’ll be in. If you’re going to be doing lots of walking and posing outside, then a dress with delicate lace and a long train may not be the best choice.

At Spring Lake Events, we have a variety of photo opportunities for our couples. Our gallery is a great place to see what others have done in the past and get a feel for the settings that we provide.
