It’s that time of year again! When we open our gates to couples and their families for some of the most gorgeous vintage weddings you’ve ever seen!
We absolutely love hosting families at our lakeside wedding venue. There’s something about hanging out in nature that just brings families together.
It’s always fun seeing the little ones playing with sticks out in the field or playing a game of tag while waiting on the cake to be cut. And we event get to see some of the tiniest guests start taking their first few steps in our soft grass up by the reception barn.
Hanging out in nature is so so good for kids, and we love the extra benefits they get from a day out in the country. They get fresh, smog-free air. They get to play with sticks and bugs and make whistles out of blades of grass. They might try to skip a rock on the lake or just run until they fall down laughing in the grass. It’s always beautiful having kids here.
But, let’s be honest. Sometimes kids get bored of playing in the grass. And sometimes they get a little too adventurous down by the lake. That’s why we think it’s a great idea to plan ahead to keep the little ones entertained and contained.
First, you’ll want to provide lots of entertainment for them. It doesn’t need to be a tv and an iPad, but age appropriate toys are always a good idea. Crayons and plain paper or coloring books are almost always fun for any age. The bigger the paper, the better. You could set out some simple board games or a deck of cards for the older kids. Or you could get really elaborate and set up an activity for them to do throughout the day (scavenger hunt, maybe?).
You’ll also want to choose someone to keep an eye out on them. Responsible teenagers work great for this job. Kids have a keen eye for adventure and Spring Lake is full of opportunity. Unfortunately, when kids haven’t grown up out in the wide open, they don’t know the dangers that could be a step away. The lake is a particular attraction we like to keep our eye out on.
We want your friends and family to have a blast here at Spring Lake, and that includes the little ones! Preparing to host kids on your wedding day is a great item to put on your wedding planning list. It doesn’t need to be complicated. Just pick an activity and a chaperone, and everyone will have an awesome time.
