Let’s go over the specific things you should consider at each stage in the planning process. Keep in mind that this list isn’t comprehensive, but it can be a helpful starting point!

12 Months Out

It’s time to begin the wedding planning activities!

When you’re a year out from your wedding, you should be working on making a budget and guest list. These two things can be extremely influential to your wedding, so it’s important to have them nailed down in the beginning.

One of the most important things you should be thinking about at this time is your venue. Many venues book far out in advance, so it’s important that you give yourself enough time to select the right venue and make sure that the date you want is available.

We love working with couples during every stage of the planning process and would be happy to give you a tour outside our outdoor Georgia wedding venue.

By this point, you should have your wedding dress picked out. Alterations can take a long time and often require multiple appointments, so it’s essential that you give yourself enough of a time buffer to have peace of mind.

You should also be thinking about the outfits your wedding party will be wearing. This can require a lot of coordination and opinions, so make sure that you don’t leave it to the last minute. Especially if anyone in your bridal party will be needing alterations, it’s essential to give yourself enough time.

4 Months Out

Your wedding is getting closer – yay!

When you’re about four months away, you should be sure that you have your food locked down. This likely means that you’ll be doing your final tasting with your caterer and solidifying your wedding cake. Getting this out of the way and secured can be a big relief, so you may even want to do this step before the four month mark.

Another great idea at this stage is to have your hair and makeup trial. If you don’t love the trial look, then you still have time to make changes or even go with a different hair and makeup artist.

1 Month Out

At this point, it’s crunch time! You’ll most likely need to pay your vendors at this point. Make sure that you’re aware of their tipping policies and whether or not that is built into the overall price.

Another thing you should do at this stage is make your seating chart. You should already know who will and won’t be coming to your wedding, so you’re ready to get the chart set in stone!
