We understand that it can be extremely stressful to plan a wedding and pick out a venue. Because of that, accessibility and inclusivity are things that often fall through the cracks. However, these things can be extremely important when you’re picking out a venue. Let’s discuss some of the reasons why this is so important, as well as things to look for when you’re picking out a wedding venue.

Accessibility and Inclusivity

Making sure that your friends and family are included in your big day is important and accessibility can play a large role in making that happen. Below are some things you can do to increase accessibility on your wedding day.

Livestream the Ceremony

Live Streaming your wedding is a great way to make sure that everyone can be included, even if they’re not at your venue. This can be a great option if you’re having a destination wedding or a venue that not everyone can make it to.

If you are going to livestream your event, consider designating someone who’s not in the bridal party to take care of it. If you don’t do this, then you may end up stressing out on your big day (and we don’t want that to happen!).

Participation

When you’re checking out wedding venues, it’s important to think about the level of participation that some of your guests will be able to have. Will everyone be able to dance?

Will everyone be able to have accessible seating during your ceremony? Asking yourself these questions is a good way to make sure that your venue is as accessible as possible.

Think about Your Guests

It can be helpful to have your list of guests made before you start looking for a venue. This will ensure that you know who may be attending and what needs they may have. You can then go searching for a venue that meets those requirements.

Take a Tour

One of the best things you can do when you’re shopping for wedding venues is to tour them. Venues often look different online, so don’t be afraid to book an appointment and actually see your venue in person.

When you’re touring potential venues, don’t be afraid to ask about the things they’ve done to promote accessibility. If a venue isn’t able to provide you with some information, then they may not be the right venue for you.
