One of the biggest decisions that a couple will need to make when planning their big day is the venue it will take place at. Getting married requires many different decisions, so we’ve put together this blog to help you during the wedding venue selection process.
Choosing Your Venue
Regardless of whether you’re having a local or destination wedding, it’s likely that there are a lot of different venue options for you to choose from. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the different options, know that you’re not alone. It can be helpful to have some things to think about when you’re taking a look at various venues, so consider asking the following questions when you’re at a potential venue.
How soon would we need to book our potential date?
Making sure that the date you have in mind is available is one of the most important things to think about when you’re visiting a potential venue. This may not be as much of an issue if you’re flexible with your date, but it’s still an important thing to keep in mind.
Knowing how far out a venue is booked can give you important information about whether or not it’s the right pick for you, so make sure that you clear this up with the venue staff before you leave your tour.
Do you allow pets?
If you want to include pets in your ceremony or reception, then it’s essential to make sure you have a venue that allows this. Asking about any specific qualifications they may have surrounding pets can also help you as you make the difficult venue decision!
Do you allow hard liquor?
Some venues allow hard liquor and others don’t. Many couples are perfectly happy forgoing hard liquor at their wedding, but this is something that you’ll want to make sure you ask about. This is also something that may be included in the venue contract, so you’ll want to make sure that you’re clear about this question before moving forward.
Do you have photos from past weddings we can take a look at?
Taking a look at past photos of other weddings can give you a general idea of what your big day might be like. If a venue doesn’t have any examples that they can show you, then it may be a sign that they’re not the right pick.
In today’s world, most venues have social media accounts that you can take a look at in order to get a better idea of the weddings that they put on.
Do you have a list of vendor recommendations?
Choosing your wedding vendors can be overwhelming, especially because there are so many different ones to choose from. If a venue has a list of vendors that they recommend, it can be an extremely helpful starting point as you begin (or continue) your vendor search. If they don’t have a list of preferred vendors, that’s okay! However, this can be a helpful thing to ask about.
