Last week we chatted about how many engagements happen over the holidays and what to do when you first get engaged. We’re back this week with the rest of the plan. :) We weren’t going to leave you hanging. That’s not our style.

After you’ve reserved your dream venue (ahem), you can move on to the fun part. Decorating your dream vintage wedding venue! Okay, so it doesn’t have to be a vintage wedding (it’s your day, after all), but we’ve seen some amazing vintage weddings here at our venue and the possibilities are endless. Of course, Spring Lake is great for outdoor-themed weddings, rustic weddings, barn weddings, lake weddings, garden weddings, green weddings, bohemian weddings, and yes, even luxuriously elegant outdoor weddings. We’ve seen it all and we have yet to see a wedding that wasn’t gorgeous here at Spring Lake. Even the weddings without any extra decor are always gorgeous since we’ve already done some of the decorating for you. And with nature as a canvas, you can’t go wrong!

We’ve given you some wedding theme ideas, so the other thing left is your attire. Yes, the dress! A bride in her dress is always breathtaking. Thin lace dresses or full fluffy ballgowns covered in ruffles. We love them all. And shoes? Oh yeah. We like that part, too. We see a lot of cowboy boots and flats around here, but yes, some girls do make it down the aisle in heels and wedges, too. The men are always strapping in their suits or dress pants. Sometimes the men’s clothing can set the tone for the entire wedding. If the men are in 3 piece suits, the occasion feels more formal. But if they’re sporting dress pants, button down shirts with their sleeves rolled up, sneakers and suspenders, everyone gets ready to party. Of course, the wedding attire will have a bit to do with the season and temperature outside, too.

And we can’t forget the cake! There’s the traditional 3 or 5 tier wedding cake, but we’ve seen it all here at Spring Lake. There are mini-desserts like cupcakes, candy bars (as in, a big spread of jars full of candy), and on of our favorites, pies and mini pies! They’re so classically Southern, and we just can’t get enough of them in the wedding setting (or the Thanksgiving setting ;)). There are so many fun options to customize your wedding these days. A far cry from the wedding cakes of yesteryear with plastic cake toppers!! We love how easy it is to customize weddings now!

And there are a few more items to add to your list like your DJ or musicians, hair and makeup artists, officiant, invitations/programs, and finally, booking your honeymoon! Even though there are still quite a few items on your list, you can breathe easy knowing you’ve already tackled the hard part: booking your wedding venue, caterer and florist!

We hope that you enjoy this exciting time of your life and that you spend time creating memories with the people you love during the holidays.

From our family to yours,
Merry Christmas!
