Today we’re going to go over one of our favorite topics: easy ways you can incorporate children into your wedding ceremony and reception! At Spring Lake Events, we think this is super important and we love seeing ways that our couples include their little ones in their big day. Alright, let’s get started and go over some of the options you have!
Ceremony Reading
If you have some time available during your ceremony, consider asking your children to do a reading. This can be extremely meaningful and is a great way to include kids in your actual ceremony. This may not be the best option for kids that are afraid of the spotlight or ones that can’t read, but it’s certainly an option you should consider.
If you’re going to go this route, consider thinking about a reading that is meaningful and makes sense for your kids to read. If you can’t find one that works well, consider sitting down with your children and asking them to help you write something that’s meaningful.
Music
If you have musical children, then that’s a perfect opportunity to incorporate them into your wedding day! You could have your kid play an instrument as you walk down the aisle or sing a song that’s meaningful to you as a couple.
While asking your child to play music can be a great option, you have a lot of different choices if your kid gets stage fright. If this is the case, then consider asking them to play a song while guests are being seated. This can be a great way to incorporate your kids without putting too much pressure on them and making sure that they feel comfortable.
Reception Speech
Asking your kids to give a speech at the reception can be extremely meaningful. Consider practicing with your kid beforehand so that they feel less nervous and confident in the moment. Having your kid write their own speech can be an extremely special thing, so make sure that you give them enough time and show them some examples and they can gain inspiration from.
First Look Photo
Doing a first look photo with your kids can be incredibly special. If this is something that you’re planning on, make sure that you’ve spoken with your photographer ahead of time and coordinated everything you’ll need to in order to get this shot. If you have multiple kids, consider thinking about if you’d like to do individual first looks with each of them or if you want to do individual first looks with each of your kids.
Unique Gifts
It’s important that your kids feel special on your wedding day. One great way to do this is to give them unique gifts that they can treasure and have with them forever. Consider thinking about some specific gifts that have sentimental value for your individual relationship and situation. You won’t regret giving your kids unique gifts for them to cherish!
