Looking to include family in your wedding? Here are some of the top ideas to consider for your big day!

If you’re close with your family, then you probably want to include them in your big day. If this is something that you’re interested in but you don’t have many ideas, then you’ve come to the right place!

At Spring Lake Events, we love seeing our couples include family in their wedding. Below are some of our favorite ideas for ways that you can include those who you’re close to and show them how much you care about them. Take a look at the following options and see if any of them could be right for you and your family.

First Look

Who says first looks just have to be for the husband or partner? Having a first look for some of your family members can be an exceptional way to have a special moment and include them. Make sure that your photographer captures their reactions because that’s something that you’ll want to remember forever! Planning a first look ahead of time is a good way to make sure that everything goes off without a hitch.

Speeches

Speeches are one of the most obvious ways that you can include family in your big day. Asking someone to give a speech at your reception is a big responsibility, so make sure that people know they’re going to be speaking well ahead of time.

Reading

Having a reading during your ceremony can be a great way to include family. Consider sitting down with your partner and speaking with them about any passages or poems that are meaningful to you. This is a great way to add an extra element to your ceremony and it can be a good way to give your officiant a quick break.

If you’re going to have someone read something, consider printing out the passage on nice paper or buying a special journal to keep it in.

Dances

Many people love having a special dance for their family. It’s traditional for the father of the bride to have a dance, but it doesn’t have to stop there! Consider thinking about family members who may be overlooked during other parts of the ceremony and think about if it’s a good idea to have a dance specifically for them.

Memorials

When it comes to including family in your big day, it’s important to make sure that you think about those who have passed on. Having a memorial space or photos at your wedding can be an exceptional way to honor those you love and make sure that they’re remembered on your big day.

If you have multiple people you love who have passed away, consider having a spot for their photos or things that were theirs. This can be extra special and a good element that not many people think about during wedding planning.
