Summer time will be here before you know it. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding here are some super easy fixes to make your wedding day a dream.

Don’t get us wrong, Spring Lake has a nice valley breeze blowing through it. Most days. But on the off days that there is no breeze, a lakeside and barn outdoor wedding venue can start to feel a bit, um, warm in the summer.

And if you or your guests are dressed to the nines for an elegant occasion, it feels even warmer. Nevermind that Georgia has some serious humidity. It’s called Hotlanta for a reason.

I don’t know about you, but when the weather starts to get hot and humid, I start to get grumpy. Imagine 200 guests starting to get a little grumpy. No one wants that on their wedding day.

Thankfully, we have our amazing valley breeze blowing through the property most of the summer. It’s a pleasant surprise to most of our guests, some of which rarely get to be outside and hear the sounds of nature in the summer.

And let me just be the first to say that there is nothing in this world like a cool summer night’s breeze blowing through the barn. The air is fresh and cool. The scent is earthy and comforting. It is one of the most relaxing and special times of the day around here at Spring Lake. It’s a time when guests are kicking off their shoes and just feeling at home.

But, for those times of the day when the breeze slows down, here are a few easy fixes to keep your guests extra cool and happy on a hot wedding day.

Warn your guests

Watch the weather the week before your wedding. If the temperature is projected to be 90 degrees or warmer, send out a group message to your guests to remind them to dress appropriately. That will also give them the green light to dress comfortably if they weren’t sure before.

Mini fans are (actually) amazing

You can order custom designed hand fans that work really well. Plus they’re always really cute sitting in a basket near the sign in table. You could also opt for a battery powered personal fan. We always keep these on hand during the summer when we head to events. They work better than you’d expect.

Rent some extra cool air

There are companies that offer air conditioner fan system rentals. They will even drop off the fan systems at the venue and pick them up for you. It’s a no-stress option to keep your guests cool and stress free on your big day.

Whatever cooling option you choose, be sure to use cation on hot wedding days. Don’t forget that wedding dresses can keep the bride the hottest person at the event (pun intended). Wedding dresses with a lot of layers trap heat and can raise your body temperature quickly.

It can be easy to get caught up in the fun hustle and bustle of the wedding day, but don’t forget to sneak away into your air conditioned getting ready suite for some much-needed cool air and rest. Also, make sure you are drinking enough fluids during those hot days to keep you hydrated and cool.
